The vacant seats issue in Stadium Bukit Jalil recently has caused an uproar among Malaysian football fans, with many of them taking things personally and bombarding Taiwanese singer Jay Chou on his Instagram with harsh comments, asking him NOT to come to Malaysia.
Just last night (January 6), Jay Chou responded to the criticisms via his IG story and assured the people that he’ll gladly delay his concert on January 15 to a later date, if and only approval is obtained.
“You should ask the football association or the management of the venue if they allow me to delay my concerts. I just want to sing and entertain my fans,” Jay assured.
Jay also politely told the Malaysian football fans that he understands how important the football match is to them. At the end of his IG story, he told everyone that he simply wants nothing but for the people to attend his concert happily.
“I hope everyone attends my concert happily.”
Just recently, Youth & Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh said that the booking of the venue in Stadium Bukit Jalil for Jay Chou’s concert has been made way back in 2019. The concert was initially scheduled for 2020, but the pandemic and the lockdown prompted the concert to be delayed.
The Football Association of Malaysia, on the other hand, booked the stadium in August 2022. Regardless, Hannah assured the people that canceling Jay Chou’s concert is not an option, and the stadium has made an effort to cater to everyone.
To both fans of football and Jay Chou, be patient and we hope that both events will proceed smoothly without any repercussions.
