If playing video games has been your dream, then this Japanese high school is undoubtedly your dream school coming true.
The Esports Koutou Gakuin located in Tokyo Shibuya is Japan’s very first esports high school. Not only that it is an actual academic institution like any other high school, but it is also funded by the telecoms giant NTT and an esports team owned by Tokyo Verdy.
According to the school’s official website, open school is done every Sunday since January 2022 for junior high school students considering admission in 2022. Last month, an online webinar was also done to attract students to join the school for the future development of the Japanese esports industry.
Let’s take a glimpse at the interior of the school — looks just like heaven for video gamers. Who wouldn’t want to study in such a beautiful and advanced “high school”?
This place is also where playing games while studying becomes the sweet reality. Besides learning the basic high school acedemic curriculum, students will undergo game training, care training, free game training, industrialised instruction, and to experience extracuriculum activities at the Akiba-NTT e-Sports EXeField.
The coaches and teachers are all professional esports player or esports representatives with prominent status.
Other than that, the school is also equipped with 40 Galleria XA7C-R37 gaming PCs with an Intel Core i7-11700, and outfitted with Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 graphics cards, as reported by Kotaku. The students will also get to learn and play game genres like FPS, Third-person shooter, RTS, and MOBA. The skills they learn also allow them to ace in the National High school Esports Championship and other competitions.
Japan is always known to be a dream country to visit, now with an esports high school, would you consider going to Japan for esports studies? What do you think about this? Let us know in the comments.
