Recently, it was reported that the Islamic Development Department Malaysia (JAKIM) has proposed a change to the validity of pre-marriage course certificates and has suggested a 10-year validity period beginning October 1.
In a statement, JAKIM said that the matter is still at the consideration stage and that the proposal was raised to ensure that the content of the course module is more relevant and effective for prospective married couples.
JAKIM also said that the department had discussed the proposal with the state Islamic religious departments.
“It is still at the proposal stage and being considered for implementation.”
Currently, the certification is valid for life.
