Following the dissolution of parliament on October 10, 2022, an election will need to be held within the next 60 days.
As this is something new for quite a lot of teenagers and young adults, we will be answering some of your doubts and burning questions here.

Next, in order to check for your voting location and details, you can go to this website or download the SPR app (Android/Apple) and key in your IC number along with the captcha.
After doing so, your personal details will appear along with some voting particulars such as your voting area. Here’s what it looks like.
The most important things to take note of here are the DUN and Parlimen field as you will be voting for both of them as DUN seats (ADUN) are used to form the state government and Parlimen seats (MP) are for the federal government.
Those from Sabah, Sarawak, Melaka and Johor will only vote for the Parlimen field as they had their state elections already.
Members of the parliament (MPs) are responsible for passing laws and making decisions that affect the whole country while Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUNs) are in charge of passing laws and debating policies that are for a specific state only.
The candidates for both DUN and Parlimen have yet to be announced but when the time comes, you can check which candidates are contesting in your area on the SPR site and application by clicking the “Semakan Calon Pilihan Raya”.
Now, if you’re overseas for work or for your studies, you might want to register for postal vote. SPR has announced on Twitter that they are accepting applications for postal vote and you can register by logging in here.
We hope that that this article has cleared some of your doubts.
Remember to exercise your right to vote in this next election in order to create the Malaysia that you want!
