Do you have a cray-ving for crayfish? Yes, pun intended!
Well good news, because IKEA is organising a Crayfish Party on 18 August! As you’ve probably guessed, the highlight of this buffet is crayfish!
Wait a minute, why’s a Swedish furniture company serving a massive amount of crayfish?
According to The Local, crayfish has been served in Swedish folks’ homes for a very long time. Locally, it is also called ‘kräftskiva’, which is pronounced as kreft-HWEE-va.
“It was a way to say farewell to summer and welcome to autumn, and August was also the month the crayfish were ready to be fished,” Jonas Engman, an ethnologist at the Nordic Museum said.
If you visit IKEA often enough, you’ll know that IKEA loves introducing the Swedish culture to fellow Malaysians. This is probably why they are holding this crayfish party!
On 18 August, two buffet sessions will be available for diners, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, and 8pm to 10pm.
The star of the menu is none other than crayfish served with dill and lemon wedges. Careful not to go too cray-cray over the main dish!
Don’t worry guys, the all-time favourite Swedish meatballs will be on the menu as well! Yummy!
Here’s the crayfish party menu.
Tickets are available at IKEA restaurants, and early birds will enjoy special rates if you purchase yours between 24 July and 13 August! RM50 buffet anyone? #Steal
So, are you guys ready to go cray cray for the crayfish party?
