Former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli revealed that two men dressed in black and wearing helmets attacked his son at a Putrajaya shopping mall yesterday (August 13).
In a Facebook post, he added that one of the men suddenly grabbed his 12-year-old son, who was with his mother at the time, and jabbed him with a syringe as they were about to get into their car around 1.45 PM.

The men had been following his wife’s car
Rafizi also said checks showed two men on a motorcycle had been tailing his wife’s car, and he believes the attack was planned ahead of time.
He said his son was rushed to Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Hospital for treatment, while police arrived at the scene shortly after to start their investigation.
“The attack involved two men dressed entirely in black with full-face helmets. They had been waiting and then rushed in to attack my son at the right moment,” he wrote.
Rafizi added that he and his family have since given their statements to the police.
“I would like to express my deepest thanks to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and UPM Hospital for helping my family through this incident,” he said.

“I won’t bow to threats”
Rafizi said this was the first time in his political career that his family had been targeted, and he believes the attack could have been a warning to him.
He added that any updates on the incident, investigation, or medical results should come from the police and UPM Hospital.
“I believe this attack was meant to warn me to stop speaking out on certain issues. Thank you to everyone who messaged and checked in on us. God willing, while I’ll take extra steps to tighten security, I won’t bow to threats and will keep doing my job as usual,” he said.
