It is said that if all 8 billion humans on planet earth have an equal chance of being killed by lightning over a 70-year lifespan, this gives a lifetime probability of about 1 in 60,000.
Unfortunately, a man in Indonesia became that 1 in 60,000.
The Githii Twitter page recently showcased a horrifying video of an Indonesian football player dying upon getting struck by lightning during a football game.
They wrote, “This happened during a football match in Indonesia.”
In the video, the football player, 35-year-old Septain Raharja, could be seen walking on the field during a friendly football match between 2 FLO FC Bandung and FBI Subang at at the Siliwangi Stadium in Bandung, West Java, when he was struck by lightning at approximately 4:20pm on Saturday (February 10).
According to a report by NDTV, upon getting struck, the football player collapsed onto the field and was rushed to a local hospital but he unfortunately died soon after.
Githii went on to share signs of how to identify when lightning is about to strike.
“Before lightning strikes, nature gives us hints. You might feel your hair stand up or get a tingling sensation on your skin. Some people even reported a metallic taste in their mouth. These signs mean the electric field around you is very strong and lightning may be about to strike,”
“If you notice any of these (signs), it’s crucial to immediately move to a safe place, like indoors or a car. Remember, lightning can be unpredictable, so always be cautious when you hear thunder,” they added.
