Abuse is a terrible, vile act that not only inflicts physical harm but will traumatise the victim as well. A recent case in Kampung Terap, Bukit Marak, Kota Bharu has caused much outrage online after it was discovered that a father had abused his own eight-year-old daughter horribly.
According to Astro Awani, the 31-year-old father had tortured his young daughter by burning her with cigarette butts on her legs, hitting her repeatedly and even using a knife to cut her on various parts of her body. That’s seriously horrifying!
He allegedly did all these cruel acts because the hapless child apparently looked just like his ex-wife, which was what triggered him as they had not separated on good terms. As a result of the abuse, the girl who is the eldest of three children suffered injuries all over her body.
Her 27-year-old mother, Nurul Hazwani Shahferi said that she was alerted of the abuse on November 18 when her sister-in-law had sent over a photo of her kids hiding behind the cupboard in fear of their raging father. She asked Nurul to quickly come and save her kids as they were suffering.
Shocked and heartbroken at the sight of her poor children, Nurul immediately went to the police station in Kubang Kerian to lodge a report and ask for help to rescue her children from her ex-husband’s house. She said that this was the third time they had separated and she refused to give him another chance as he was a hot-tempered man who would sometimes hit her too. Kudos to her for leaving an abusive relationship!
The couple had separated three months ago and her three children continued living with their father as their school was nearby. Nurul said,
“I never thought that my ex-husband would do such a terrible act because he was still angry at me for not going back to him. He took out his anger on our daughter as she looked like me most while her other siblings were unharmed. I will take care of my kids from now on even though I have financial difficulties as my job does not pay much.”
Meanwhile, District police chief of Kota Bharu, Assistant Commissioner Ismail Mat Sidik confirmed that they received this report and had arrested the man on November 19. He has tested positive for methamphetamine and the case will be investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
Hopefully the poor, abused kid will be alright and the father would be punished severely for his actions!
