Losing our loved ones is a traumatic event and is probably everyone’s greatest fear. Death is certainly inevitable but sometimes we just wish our family members would live forever.

On 11 May, a neuroscientist, Nadia Chaudhri who is currently battling ovarian cancer shared her emotional decision to tell her one and only son about her terminal disease. According to India Today, she was diagnosed back in 2020 and recently made a decision to share the heart-wrenching news with her son.

She wrote, “Today is the day I tell my son that I’m dying from cancer. It’s reached a point where he has to hear it from me. Let all my tears flow now so that I can be brave this afternoon. Let me howl with grief now so that I can comfort him.”

The heartbreaking post went viral on the platform which has garnered over 14,000 retweets and 500,000 likes at the time of writing. The next day (12 May), Nadia updated her son’s response to the sudden news in the thread.

She tweeted, “Our hearts broke. We cried a lot. And then the healing began. My son is brave. He is bright. He will be okay. And I will watch him grow from wherever I am. Today was the hardest day of my life. Thank you for all your love.”

The mother and son duo received tons of positive thoughts and prayers from users in the comment section. Some even shared their experiences dealing with the loss of a loved one due to cancer as well.
