According to a health circular dated back in June 22, Health Ministry facilities like clinics and hospitals will only accept cashless payments with debit cards, credit cards and e-wallets starting from Oct 1.
A customer is only allowed to pay in cash if they do not have access to cashless payment or does not have a bank account.
Health Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Harjeet Singh said that “by the end of the year, the ministry expects 95% of transactions at its clinics and hospitals to be cashless.”
While this may be a good move, many Malaysians are worried and this is what some of them said:
While going cashless may be a way to reduce tax evasion and fraud, are we as a society ready to embrace and transition into a cashless society?
