The skeletal remains of a man were found lying face up in Baling, Kedah, yesterday (September 2), while still fully clothed.
Acting Baling District Police Chief, DSP Ahmad Salimi Md Ali, said a 43-year-old rubber tapper came across what appeared to be a human skeleton near a garden fence in Kampung Padang Besar, Kuala Ketil.

The deceased had previously been reported missing
Ahmad Salimi said the man also came across a blue SYM motorcycle about 25 metres from where the skeleton was found, Sinar Harian reported.
He added that checks showed the skeleton was lying on its back with both legs propped up on a white plastic barrel, and a knife was discovered on the left side of the body.
“Further investigations led us to check missing persons reports, where we found that the victim’s wife had lodged a report on August 29 after her husband failed to return home since August 24,” he said.

Cause of death to be determined
Ahmad Salimi said the victim’s wife and stepson later identified the body based on his clothes and motorcycle.
He added that the body was sent to the Forensic Unit at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem to find out the cause of death.
For now, the case is classified as a sudden death, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward and help with the investigation.
