Despite its imperfections, there’s still plenty to love about Malaysia and its people. Whether it’s the diverse cuisine or the vibrant architecture, there’s something for everyone to appreciate about the country.
In a recent viral video circulating online, @itsrekya took to her TikTok account to express her dislikes about Malaysia.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, the French woman mentioned that she has visited Malaysia multiple times and currently resides in the country.
She emphasized that her videos is just to highlight lifestyle differences between countries or cultures, not to criticize or be rude.
In the video, she explains her dislikes about Malaysia, mentioning reasons such as the hot weather, how Malaysians interact with kids, and the lack of walkable roads.
“The cultural differences are significant, and I simply wanted to share them with good intentions only.”
In the video, she also explains why Malaysian food tends to be spicy, saying it’s because Europeans like her aren’t used to such flavours.
She also mentions how restaurant staff often assure her that the food isn’t too spicy, but she still struggles with it.
Rekya mentioned that it’s been 3 months since she moved to Malaysia. She explained that she had been considering leaving France for various reasons, and after thorough research, she found that Malaysia seemed like the best option.
“Things I love in Malaysia as a French”
Not only did Rekya share a video expressing her dislikes about Malaysia, but she also posted another one focusing on what she likes about the country.
In that video, she talked about how much she admires the way Malaysians respect each other, no matter their cultural or religious differences. She pointed out that Malaysians are much more tolerant compared to French people.
Rekya went on to express her admiration for Malaysia’s beauty, particularly its beaches and jungles. She even highlighted the wide range of activities one can enjoy in the country, pointing out that there’s never a dull moment here.
“Even though I’m still adjusting, I’m really grateful we chose to live in Malaysia. I feel much more at peace here.”
Despite pointing out the things she doesn’t like about Malaysia, netizens surprisingly agreed with most of her points.

Just like any other country, Malaysia too has its flaws. So it’s justifiable for someone to not be a fan of a specific country.
