A famous Malaysian fishmonger’s plan to apparently give away grouper fish in conjunction with Chinese New Year celebrations was foiled when an apparent rival stole the fish from her family’s premises in a night-time heist.
The Penang-based fishmonger, 賣魚妹 PP, took to her Facebook page to allege that a rival fishmonger had stolen 2 boxes of Grouper fish, apparently weighing over 100kg in total, while sharing CCTV footage of the incident.
She wrote, “Wow! Our groupers weighing over 100kgs were stolen by this (profanity). I was very happy to finally give away the groupers at the last minute before Chinese New Year, but it was stolen by this idiot!”
賣魚妹 PP also explained that she believes the man could be a rival fishmonger due to how he handled the boxes containing the groupers.
“Seeing his powerful and skilful carrying movements, he may also be a fishmonger. If you find out where he sent the fish or if you have bought the fish from him, please inform me,”
“This (profanity) was also afraid that his car would get dirty, so he laid down cardboard,” she said.
She shared CCTV footage of the incident
In the video showcased, a man could be seen reversing his white Proton Exora towards the back of a lorry parked within 賣魚妹 PP’s family compound in the middle of the night.
He even opened his car boot, which was lined with cardboard, before getting back into his car to further reverse it towards the back of the lorry, where the boxes of grouper fish were kept.
After aligning his car with the lorry, he quickly grabbed and carried 2 boxes of fish, weighing over 50kgs each, into his car boot before leaving the premises.
賣魚妹 PP went on to explain that it is their practice to have the fish delivered to the back of their lorry so that they can immediately head to their stall to sell fish in the morning.
“It has been like this for decades. Our small kampung is very remote. People who do not live here will not come in, so it has always been peaceful,” she added.
