An elderly woman was scheduled for cremation in Thailand on 23 November after being pronounced dead the night before.
Her relatives had brought the 65-year-old in a coffin for cremation at a temple in Bang Yai district under the temple’s “Final Home” funeral support programme.

She was found alive just moments before cremation
According to the Bangkok Post, the “dead” woman’s younger brother said the family had travelled from Phitsanulok after being told by local officials that she had passed away the night before.
“Officials told us she had died. All the documents were ready, so we placed her in a coffin and brought her to the temple for cremation,” he explained.
As temple staff were moving the coffin, they reportedly heard knocking from inside, according to The Thaiger.
When they opened it, they were shocked to find the woman alive. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, and the temple assured the family that all medical expenses would be covered.

Doctors confirm she was suffering from severe low blood sugar
A doctor later confirmed that the woman showed no signs of cardiac arrest or respiratory failure. Instead, she was found to be suffering from severe hypoglycemia, or critically low blood sugar.
She received prompt treatment and was kept under close medical supervision.
