A Malaysian driver encountered a herd of elephants while night driving in Perak
In the video, recorded from inside a car at night time on an undisclosed road in Bukit Gerik, a herd of at least 6 elephants can be seen crossing the road.
As the majestic animals were doing this, the driver stopped their car and waited patiently for them to cross.
However, the car, thanks to its lights that were turned on, attracted the attention of one adult elephant from the herd.
The adult elephant then broke away from its group and slowly approached the car as the driver continued recording the video.
The elephant ‘politely’ tapped on the car’s front lights
The elephant then ‘confronted’ the driver by standing in front of their vehicle.
It then used one of its legs to ‘politely’ tap on the car’s front lights, as if telling the driver to turn it off.
Despite this rather scary situation, the driver remained calm and slowly reversed their car to get some distance away from the elephant.
While the elephant looked as if it was chasing the car for a while, it then ended up just leaving it be and rejoined its herd.

In the caption, Perak Press advised those who find themselves in a similar situation not to provoke the elephants and turn off their car lights as elephants are sensitive to them at night time.
The post caption reads,
“Turn off your light brother. You just got a warning from the elephant. Thankfully, it just approached you to tell you to turn off your lights,”
