Segamat, Johor, once again, was struck by a minor earthquake this morning (August 29).
This marks the 5th time the district was struck by the disaster in less than 1 week, with the first one taking place on August 24 at 6:13 AM, with a magnitude of 4.1.

Segamat hit by earthquake for the 5th time in 5 days
In an official statement by the Malaysian Meteorological Department this morning, a weak earthquake tremor was again recorded in Segamat, following the tremor that occurred last night around 7:56 PM. The earthquake that happened this morning had a magnitude of 3.4, and was the 5th quake to happen in 5 days.
“The epicentre was at coordinates 2.7 degrees North and 102.8 degrees East with a depth of 10 kilometres.
“The incident was centred approximately 22 kilometres northeast of Segamat and tremors were also felt in several areas around Johor,” the statement said.
MetMalaysia highlighted that the department would continue to monitor the situation from time to time.
Tremors were felt in other areas in Johor
Throughout the reported earthquakes in the past few days, tremors were also reported in other areas in Johor.
After the first earthquake in Segamat on August 24, it was then followed by a second tremor at 9 AM in Yong Peng, about 28 kilometres northwest of Kluang, with a magnitude of 2.8 at a depth of 10 kilometres.
