We’re sure everyone and their grandmother knows cosmetics entrepreneur and singer, Datuk Seri Vida, whose single titled ‘I Am Me’ became viral after she reportedly spent RM1 million on her elaborate music video.
Now, it looks like she’ll have to spend much more after her court hearing yesterday (9th April). According to Free Malaysia Today, the High Court reportedly ordered the cosmetics millionaire to pay her income tax dues for five years.
The final price tag? RM4.6 million, which has to be paid to the internal revenue board (LHDN) by 21st May this year.
Datuk Seri Vida was reportedly required to pay LHDN RM4,686,435.79 in income tax for the years between 2011 and 2015.
Although she was not present in court, her counsel, Zailan Mohamed, attended as a representative.
He told reporters outside the courthouse that he would hold discussions with LHDN in efforts to restructure the payments and that his client would settle the payment.
However, according to lawyer Nor Hidayah Mohd Anas, who is LHDN’s representative, Datuk Seri Vida failed to comply with the terms of payment even after having a discussion with her. This led to LHDN taking the issue to court.
Well, let’s hope that DSV can settle her payment before the deadline. Meanwhile, it’s tax season, so don’t forget to do your filing, guys! If it’s your first time filing, here’s a guide to help you out!
