Criticism over United States President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to Malaysia has intensified amid Israeli attacks against five Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) ships.
As we’ve reported earlier, at least 12 Malaysian volunteers who participated in the Global South Flotilla (GSF) mission to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza have been detained by Israeli forces who intercepted the ship.
“Let us confront Trump face-to-face!”
According to data from the North Nusantara Control Centre (SNCC), the vessel Grande Blu was intercepted at 12:58 AM Gaza time, followed by Hio at 2:34 AM, about 60 nautical miles off Gaza.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim strongly condemned Israel’s interception of the Global South Flotilla (which was carrying unarmed civilians to Gaza) and promised that Malaysia will use every legal and legitimate channel to hold Israel accountable, especially if Malaysian citizens are harmed.
UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr Akmal Saleh also weighed in, calling on Putrajaya to consider pulling back its invitation to Trump for the upcoming ASEAN Summit if Malaysian activists on board the ships are not released immediately.

In a Facebook post, Dr Akmal warned that if the demands aren’t met, UMNO Youth nationwide will stage a major protest in front of Trump during his visit to Kuala Lumpur.
He also stressed that any harm to the volunteers would be seen as harm to all Malaysians.
“If the Sumud Flotilla activists, especially Malaysians, are not released, we call on the government to cancel Trump’s invitation to Malaysia. Otherwise, UMNO Youth across the country will launch a massive protest during his visit,” he wrote.
