Although some of us may be tempted to celebrate Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) candidate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI) announcement as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia, it may not be the wisest move considering the hostile situation the country is currently in.
PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli has urged PH supporters not to hold any celebratory gatherings following confirmation that Anwar will become Malaysia’s 10th prime minister.
In a statement released on social media, Rafizi said this was to avoid any risk of provocation.
He also advised supporters to be careful with media statements issued by other political leaders.
“Be careful with any content or messages on social media that can cause concern or be used as an excuse for provocation.”
“We must all move forward and learn to cooperate to rebuild Malaysia for the sake of the future and prosperity of every Malaysian,” he said.
Rafizi pointed out that PH and PKR leaders have not issued any statement amid efforts to form the unity government, since the election results were out.
He also urged Malaysians, PH supporters and their political comrades to respect the “desperate need” to ensure harmony at this time.
Meanwhile, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has also urged politicians to stand together with the newly appointed Prime Minister to ensure the best for the Malaysian people.
Following this, the next process for DSAI would be the Ceremony of Awarding the Deed of Appointment, the Ceremony of Taking the Oath of Office and Loyalty, and the Oath of Secrecy as Prime Minister, which will all take place today (November 24) at 5pm at Istana Negara.
