Multiple Malaysian media outlets gathered outside the Dang Wangi Police Station yesterday (13 November) while awaiting Namewee’s release on police bail.

Singaporean actor and comedian, Wang Lei, is now sharing his two cents, and dubbing members of the media as “beggars” for waiting outside the police station.

“Lame news”

During his Facebook live video, Wang Lei expressed his “sympathy” to media friends, saying that after their parents had funded their education, they ended up gathering under the rain and scorching sun just to gather information for “lame news.”

“You’ve written so much about it, until over 200 chapters, do you think the readers still care?”

“If those standing were my son or daughter, I would’ve scolded them once they got home! I paid for your education, and you ended up becoming a beggar?” Wang Lei said.

The Singaporean actor also mocked the media by imitating how they hold their cameras while waiting in the sun for news. Earlier, Wang Lei pointed out that he would still have Namewee’s back, even if the Malaysian singer, who is embroiled in the murder of Iris Hsieh, is found guilty of drug charges.

“I don’t agree with anyone taking drugs, but I support them if…”

In his earlier statement, Wang Lei also said that he had a lot of friends who had taken drugs. In his live video, Wang Lei clarified what he actually meant in his remark, saying that he had never supported anyone who took substances.

“If I have a friend who took drugs but has improved themselves, don’t you think we should support them? That’s what I meant.”

Wang Lei also mentioned a Singaporean celebrity, Simonboy, who was previously charged for drug abuse, and is now the ambassador of #saynotodrugs.

Namewee was temporarily released yesterday on police bail until 26 November. The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) found no evidence to link him to the murder of Iris Hsieh, but they are still waiting for the autopsy and toxicology report from the hospital.
