On the 31 May 2024, 500 local cryptocurrency and bitcoin enthusiasts will gather under one roof to eat, network, celebrate and party. The organisers invite all those immersed in bitcoin,  cryptocurrency and the blockchain to join in on the celebration with the larger crypto community in Malaysia.

“Why pizza?” The Birth of Bitcoin Pizza Day

On May 22, 2010, a programmer, bought two large pizzas using 10,000 bitcoin. 

“I’ll pay 10,000 bitcoins for a couple of pizzas.. like maybe 2 large ones so I have some leftover for the next day,” Laszlo Hanyecz, a Programmer

It is one of the most historical real-world purchases just a year after the creation of bitcoin. The community then dubbed May 22 as Bitcoin Pizza Day to commemorate the historical transaction. Now, Bitcoin Pizza Day is celebrated annually among the community around the world. 14 years later, bitcoin became capable enough to compete with the global currencies! On its 11th anniversary in 2021, bitcoin price reached a record high, crossing RM 284,000.
