During the past week, many road users were surprised and frustrated with the news of a 1-year road closure as it could affect their daily transit.
Said road closure was set to begin on 5 August and would last a year till 4 August. The affected routes are the Sungai Besi Road leading to Sungai Besi or Petaling Jaya (opposite Fraser Business Park) and Loke Yew roundabout, reported BERNAMA.
In a statement by DBKL on 4 August, the city council informs the public that the road closure is now postponed.
“The media statement dated Aug 1, 2023 by DBKL on the road closure scheduled to begin on Aug 5, 2023 until Aug 4, 2024 has been cancelled.”
With this postponement, it means that road users can continue using these roads as normal until DBKL issues another statement, however, it is unknown how long the city council will postpone this project, reported BERNAMA.
Earlier on, the rationale for the road closure was so that they could do renovation and bridge construction works at the Loke Yew roundabout.
Well, we certainly hope that they will consider closing the roads in stages when they finally go through with it.
