A video showing CCTV footage of a man appearing to be assaulting a parking lot attendant has recently gone viral on social media, alarming and outraging netizens.
The video shows the ‘Datuk’ angrily approaching the attendant’s booth as he proceeded to shove, hit, and scold the younger man. While it was initially not clear what the argument was about, police investigations found the real reason behind the altercation.
The man in question is reportedly a ‘Datuk’, according to local police, and the incident transpired after the 31-year-old attendant did not want to raise the boom gate because the older man had not paid the RM3 parking fee yet.
Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Ruslan Khalid told The Star about the incident, which reportedly happened at the car park office of a five-star hotel in Kuala Lumpur on the morning of 18th September. He told the daily,
“The suspect, who drove a Range Rover, then came to scold and hit the victim in the 9.20am incident. The victim, who suffered minor bruises, lodged a police report the next day.”
Authorities have since identified the ‘Datuk’ in the video and are currently investigating him under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
Well, it’s good to know that investigations are currently underway. Let’s hope the appropriate punishment is carried out if the accused is found guilty.
