On April 7, a man, believed to be in his 40s, was spotted climbing a crane tower at a building under construction in Luyang.

According to Harian Metro, the man claimed he did so unconsciously after waking up at dawn and was seen climbing on the crane’s beam at a height of approximately 126 metres from the ground.

The “whispers” made him do it

A report was made to the authorities, which led them to start a rescue operation around 7 AM.

The man, who works as a construction worker at the site, managed to safely come down on his own. He later claimed he did it without realising, after hearing “whispers” that somehow led him up the crane.

“He reached the end of the crane”

Penampang Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Senior Assistant Fire Officer Zeno Tinggalan, mentioned that they received an emergency call about the incident at 6:57 AM.

He also mentioned that a team with equipment was sent to the scene, which was about 3 kilometers from the fire station.

“When they got there, the man was at the end of the crane atop the building under construction. After about 30 minutes of talking to him, he came down on his own and the firemen calmed him down,” he said when contacted today.

He added that the man was safe and was handed over to the police for further action.
