A civil servant in Pahang was caught filming women without consent

Temerloh Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron, said that the 41-year-old suspect was arrested after a 33-year-old housewife lodged a report about the matter, which happened on 9 November, shortly before the incident circulated on social media.

According to the caption in the viral video, the man allegedly filmed the buttocks of random women at the market.

The suspect’s mobile phone, which was used to film the victim without consent, was also seized by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

Nasyim, in his statement last night (19 November), also said that the suspect’s act of filming without consent was noticed by the victim herself, and the visitors at the market later helped in apprehending the suspect, stopping him from leaving the scene.

PDRM then deployed officers to the scene after receiving a report about the matter, and arrested the civil servant.

He said that investigation papers have been opened and the case is being investigated under Sections 509A and 292 of the Penal Code. If found guilty, the suspect may face up to eight years in prison.

Moreover, investigations are still ongoing to obtain a report on the content analysis of the phone used.
