A Chinese national in Terengganu was caught overstaying his visa and was confronted by officers from the state Immigration Department (JIMNT).
After giving several excuses while being questioned, the man from China also said that he had never committed any wrongdoings.

The man behaved aggressively
The man, who is in his 40s, initially behaved aggressively and raised his voice when questioned after being detained during Ops Selera, Ops Kutip, and Ops Sapu yesterday (2 October). Despite his aggressive response, he was eventually calmed down by the Immigration officers, who found out that he had overstayed his visa.
State Immigration Department director Mohd Yusri Mohd Nor said the man, who works as a cook at a restaurant in Kuala Terengganu, was detained for investigation under Section 15 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

“The Chinese man was among 24 foreigners who were detained in a 10-hour operation starting at about 9 AM.”
“In the operation, 10 premises involving 94 foreigners from various countries, aged between 19 and 49, were inspected.”
He said that the detained foreign nationals will be investigated and charged under Section 6 (1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for not having a valid pass and Section 15 (1) (c) for overstaying under Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for violating the pass conditions, as revealed in an official statement by the Immigration Department of Terengganu.

As for the Chinese man, he could be fined not more than RM10,000 or imprisoned for not more than five years, or both, if convicted.
In the meantime, Yusir added that the state Immigration also issued notices to four local individuals to appear at the Immigration office to assist in investigations under the Immigration Act 1959/63, for the offence of employing and protecting Illegal Immigrants (PATI).
