Remember Uncle Sukumaran? He’s the car washer in Shah Alam who never set a fixed price for his service and works so that he can buy books for his daughter. Well, thanks to good-hearted Malaysians, things are starting to look better for the uncle and his family.
Previously, WOB broke the story of how the uncle met a customer who scammed him by driving off without paying for his RM1 car wash.
At that time, Uncle Sukumaran and his family had to endure a lot of hardship which included them being forced to live at a bus stop.
But after his story went viral, numerous donations have poured in to help him establish his own mobile car wash business. Even Najib visited him and his family to give a small, very public contribution.
As reported by FMT, Uncle Sukumaran’s wife, Aunty M Kanagi mentioned that her husband would be buying a second-hand van to be used to move around Section 9 in Shah Alam to look for potential customers.
Other than the van, he will also purchase proper car washing equipment and products. She said,
“He just has to obtain a business license before he can start his business. We are thankful for all the donations we have received.”
Aunty Kanagi also mentioned that her husband will discuss getting water and electricity supply from a nearby restaurant. She elaborated,
“Now we are in the process of planning, and everything is going well. We will make sure everything is done in accordance with the law so that we do not trouble anyone.”
It is great to witness how Malaysians have come together to help Uncle Sukumaran with his business. This is what being a Malaysian is all about.
