Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tabled Budget 2026 in Parliament today (10 October).
Among the notable initiatives announced for the budget is one that will benefit taxi drivers and private hire car owners in Malaysia.

100% excise duty and sales tax exemptions for Proton or Perodua vehicles for taxi drivers and private hire car owners
Taxi drivers and private hire car owners will continue to enjoy 100% excise duty and sales tax exemptions when purchasing new Proton or Perodua vehicles.
To boost efficiency and safety, HRD Corp has set aside RM10 million to cover training fees and allowances for licensed taxi drivers who take part in upskilling courses.
