A two-year-old boy tragically died after he was found in a manhole on Monday (August 4) in Jalan Pedada, Sibu, Sarawak.
According to BERNAMA, a spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said the boy was pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel.

Following an emergency call received at 6:29 PM, a fire engine carrying 10 firefighters from the Sibu Central Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) arrived at the scene just four minutes later.
According to the spokesperson, the victim’s father told the rescue team that his son had gone missing.
“Upon arrival, the victim’s father informed the rescue team that his son had gone missing and was believed to have fallen into an access hole of the sewer system. A search and rescue operation was immediately launched.” the spokeperson said.

At around 6:55 PM, rescuers located the child inside the sewer system. His body was successfully retrieved five minutes later by the rescue team.
Following the recovery, the case was handed over to the police for further investigation and necessary action.
