The Tok Adis Ramadhan Bazaar in Kuala Ibai, Kuala Terengganu was ordered to close by the Terengganu Health Department for failing to comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The closure that will last 14 days was done to ensure that Bazaar operators will take measures to ensure compliance of both traders and customers.
According to Terengganu Health Director Dr Nor Azimi Yunus, “It is the first Ramadan bazaar ordered to close in Terengganu for failing to comply with SOPs.”
SOPs have also been issued to traders and customers via various channels, among them via the state ministry’s health department Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Terengganu.
Among the SOPs in place, includes taking their body temperature, registration using the MySejahtera application, wearing face mask by traders and customers to enter the area, providing one-way access and only those above the age of 13 may enter.
Currently, 69 Ramadhan Bazaars are allowed to operate in Terengganu, involving 4,326 stalls in various districts.
