As the festive season is upon us, some Malaysians have started to shop for the upcoming Raya which is just about 2 weeks away! From Raya snacks to new clothes, people are taking the opportunity to welcome the Raya season.
Recently, in a TikTok video that was shared by Harimau Malaya, a visitor of a mall expressed his confusion over the designs of several Baju Melayu that were put on display. Typically, Baju Melayu comes in a set that is paired with pants but in this case, all the Baju Melayu on display are apparently paired with dresses, similar to Baju Kurung which is only worn by women.
You can watch the clip below and make a guess.

It has apparently been around for a long time since the 60s.

“I’ve sewn that Baju Kurug previously. Nope, it’s not weird at all.”
“I pity the youth who don’t know about it.”
“The mind of the generation from the 80s & 90s are still working. This was the outfit during the older days. Now they’re simply fashion.”
“Women in the 80s wore this a lot.”
If you’ve been shopping for new Raya outfits recently, have you seen this design on the display? Fellow readers from the 80s, have you seen this design back then?
