Hari Raya is a time for celebration especially for the older generation as they don’t really have the opportunity to spend time with family on other days. That’s why our parents tend to go all out just to make sure their guests are well fed and entertained.

Even then, we find inconsiderate family members and friends who FFK and cancel plans or show up late to these important gatherings.

A girl by the name of Laila Jamil shared a heartbreaking incident involving her mom who was excited to see her relatives for Hari Raya but they decided to cancel on her last minute.

The worse part of all is that her mom was actually suffering from a broken wrist and yet she still went out of her way to prepare food for the absent guests.

According to the tweet by Laila, her mom made Mee Udang, Ayam Sambal Bambu, Pengat Durian, Nasi Beriani, Bread Pudding, roasted lamb, and more because she was so excited to finally see them after so long.

And she made all that with a broken wrist!

Her mom waited for their arrival from 10 am to about 2 pm but they did not show up. The relatives gave an excuse to her mom for not being able to visit, saying,

“Your house is too far into the forest. We were lost. Now we have reached Negeri Sembilan. So we are going to other people’s houses first. If we still have the energy to visit you, we will drop by ya?”

What the actual f—?!

Her mom was still hoping to see them and she waited until 10pm. Then Laila had to tell her mom that they are not going to come and had to see the sad look on her mom’s face. Haih this is heartbreaking.

Let’s take this as a reminder for us. If you have informed someone that you will visit them especially during the festive season, please do not cancel your visit last minute as you don’t know the effort that they put in and the excitement that they have to see you. Please be mindful ok?
