Malaysia’s prime minister Anwar Ibrahim paid a visit to his old friend at Desa Seri Ampang, Ipoh, Perak yesterday (11 March 2023).

According to BERNAMA, He arrived at the residence of Ahmad Fawzi Shafii, 75, who is suffering from chronic schizophrenia at about 2pm bearing gifts for his old friend. Ahmad Fawzi is Anwar’s former Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) schoolmate and roommate when they were at Universiti Malaya (UM).

Anwar was seen conversing and joking with Ahmad Fawzi while reminiscing about their old days together for about 20 minutes before leaving to officiate at the opening of the Tambun Fire and Rescue station.

According to Sin Chew Daily, Ahmad Fawzi’s neighbours were also excited to hear that Anwar has arrived. One of the neighbours, the wife of Mr Lim, wrote a Chinese calligraphy art with the phrase: “感恩安华”, which means thank you Anwar, and gifted it to him.

She also wrote the phrase “坚持” in another calligraphy art, which means perseverance, and will treasure it after Anwar has signed on the art.
