Just recently, a Kelantanese singer with 5 other individuals was arrested by Thai Police. 6,000 meth pills were also found during the raid.
The Deputy Menteri Besar of Kelantan, Datuk Dr. Mohamed Fadzli Hassan, said that the case should serve as a lesson for everyone, especially the people of the state, as it involves a well-known individual from the state who is a modern Dikir barat icon, reported Berita Harian.
He urged the people of Kelantan to be cautious and set a good example to others.
“If the singer is found not guilty, Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), and we hope for that. However, if she is found guilty, then we will be very saddened.”
He added that Kelantan, being a state that borders a neighboring country, is certainly connected to ‘products’ that come from that country.
Mohamed Fadzli stated that each state has its respective issues related to crime and social problems, and it all comes down to the state governments to address these matters in collaboration with enforcement agencies.
Fadzli believed that Kelantan is still on the right track, saying,
“In conclusion, Kelantan is a religious state. We have many Arabic schools, religious teachers, scholars, and mosques that are still operational.”
Fadzli also said that everything that has happened so far is all part of fate.
“It turns out that Allah ‘planned’ it this way, as we are on the front lines of the border, and bad things like drugs must first pass through Kelantan to enter Malaysia. If we were not a strong state, we would be in trouble.”
As for the criticisms that keep coming in for Kelantan, Fadzli chose to ignore them.
“Everyone is entitled to their opinions, so let them say what they want. What’s important, as state leaders, is to ensure that we can control the situation.”
As of this morning (November 4), all suspects were brought to the court in Narathiwat, Thailand, and they will all be detained for the next 3 months.
