A Malaysian father was forced to deal with an aggressive loan shark who demanded RM30,000 to settle his son’s debt, despite the original amount being only RM150.
The loan shark imposed an outrageous interest rate and began threatening the family. The elderly father, who requested anonymity, said the loan shark warned they would set the house on fire if the five-figure sum wasn’t paid.
While the house remains unharmed, the threats escalated. The loan shark splashed paint on the man’s car and chained the house gate shut last week, leaving behind a chilling note:

“Last warning! I’ve given you a letter, and I’ll set your house on fire if you don’t reply.”
On July 16, the loan shark returned to the family’s home in Rawang around 10 pm, splashing yellow paint on the front door. The father, who was asleep, was awakened by his wife after she smelled gasoline and heard a motorcycle outside.

“We were told to contact a WhatsApp number left on the note. If we didn’t, they threatened to burn our house.”
The family has lodged two police reports and is pleading for firm action, “We hope the police will take stern action against them,” the father told Harian Metro.
Loan sharks are known for their aggressive tactics, with some even posting videos on social media of them setting victims’ homes on fire.
