During this Covid-19 pandemic, everyone is being very careful but at the same time, we are all looking out for each other #KitaJagaKita.
In Thailand, an elderly couple, Mrs. Yenjai Wongpaiboonsri, 80 and Mr. Prachuap Wongpaiboonsri, 83 has donated a total of 1.15 million Thai Baht (RM152,000) of their savings to two local hospitals. The elderly couple runs a hawker stall selling duck noodles in Chonburi, Eastern Thailand, reported Daily News.
It is said that they split the money donated between two hospitals, 500,000 Thai Baht (RM66,000) to Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital and 650,000 Thai Baht (RM86,000) to Lamchabang Hospital.
The couple said that they are already quite old so they would not know when they will ‘go’. So they donated the money knowing that these hospitals needed ventilators and Covid-19 test kits as their way of giving back to the community.
Other than that, the aunty said that back then, there was once when her husband had a terrible fall which broke both his legs. The doctors and nurses at the hospital gave her husband the utmost care and also helped to pay the medical bill. She is still very grateful for that.
The elderly couple told Daily News that they have been running the stall for more than 50 years already and they have a horde of local fans who love their food. When asked if there is any secret recipe to their food, they just said that there is no such thing other than using fresh and good quality ingredients and putting their heart and soul into every bowl.
This is certainly a very charitable couple. We wish them the best of health during these trying times!
