In PDRM’s official statement, the victim was reported missing on July 24, and the authorities received information about the location of the 6-year-old’s body at around 4:30 PM yesterday (July 28). Before the victim’s body was found, Ahmad Dzaffir said, the case was investigated according to Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 and as a missing person case.

However, as a result of further investigations, he said, troops from the Johor Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) had detained the child’s father.

“The case is now being investigated in accordance with Section 302 of the Penal Code, namely murder, which provides for the death penalty or maximum imprisonment of 40 years and imprisonment, if convicted,” Dato’ Ahmad Dzaffir, Negeri Sembilan Police Chief, said in the statement.
