TikTok is a place where people share content in hopes of becoming an influencer. But, did you know that TikTok is also a place to find a future spouse.
The social media platform managed to bring 50-year-old Elya Sudirman and her now-husband, 27-year-old Mohamad Aizat Aiman Halim, despite their 23-year age gap.
According to Sinar Harian, Elya shared that she did not expect to meet another soulmate after her first marriage ended in divorce.
The duo got married last year when she was 49-years-old and her now-husband was 26-years-old.
“We met for less than a year and went on to get married. My husband and I were united on November 12, 2023 in Pontian, Johor,” she explained.
At the time of their union, her family disagreed with her choice to marry her now-husband due to their age gap.
“My family’s reaction at that time, especially my brother, were not very pleased because of the age difference at that time as it is 23 years, so they were not sure about this marriage.”
“When my husband came to meet my family and showed seriousness in coming from Kedah to Johor to show confidence and he expressed his sincerity to marry me, only then did my family believe in accepting him,” she said.
She added that her now-husband’s family received him well.
Elya and her 4 children have since become a big, happy family with her much younger husband.
