Merdeka weekend is finally here! From dazzling fireworks lighting up the KL skyline to bazaars filled with local goodies – and of course every Malaysians’ favourite short work week (wink wink) – it’s the one time of the year Malaysians truly come together to makan, lepak, and celebrate our nation’s spirit.

From 29 August to 1 September, the iconic cultural landmark will host Check-In Merdeka, a four-day festival that runs daily from 10AM to 10PM.

The event will bring together hundreds of local vendors, offering a diverse range of products, including artisanal crafts, unique fashion pieces, homegrown brands, and lifestyle products. Foodies can look forward to mouthwatering local delicacies served throughout the festival, while music lovers will be treated to performances from talented buskers filling the air with live tunes.

Adding to the festive spirit, the programme also includes cultural showcases and performances, giving visitors the chance to experience the richness of Malaysia’s diverse heritage in one space.

2. Catch the Most Mesmerising Fireworks From KL Tower

This Merdeka Eve, KL Tower is transforming into the city’s ultimate celebration spot.

On 30 August, the Observation Deck, Sky Terrace, and Tower Terrace will become the perfect panoramic spot to view the fireworks. Not only would you see the Tower’s own breathtaking display, but also the surrounding ones across Kuala Lumpur from up high.

And to make the night even more unforgettable, there’ll also be live music in the sky, setting the perfect vibe for a truly spectacular countdown.

3. Relive the Nostalgic Past at P. Ramlee: Lagenda Merentas Zaman

Step back in time and relive the golden era of P. Ramlee at this immersive festival.

This event is set in a once-abandoned alley that has been lovingly transformed into a vibrant community space. Each day brings unique activities that celebrate the nostalgia of Malaysia’s most beloved legend.

4. Show Your Patriotism and Join the Putrajaya Merdeka Parade

No Merdeka celebration is complete without the National Day Parade, and this year, it takes place at Dataran Putrajaya from 7.30AM onwards.

Themed floats, cultural showcases, and marching contingents will fill the streets in a spectacular display of unity and patriotism. With the Prime Minister, dignitaries, and thousands of Malaysians in attendance, this is the grandest Merdeka event of them all—one for families, students, and anyone looking to experience the full patriotic spirit.

5. Last but Not Least, Watch a Tear-jerking Film Based on a Real-Life Malaysian
