A routine afternoon quickly turned tragic when a 38-year-old assistant technician collapsed and died while dining at a 24-hour restaurant in Bukit Katil, Malacca, on Friday (27 March).
The incident occurred at around 3:20 PM. The victim, Muhammad Arif Mohamed Rabei, was reportedly eating before suddenly getting up from his seat and collapsing. Eyewitnesses described the moment as shocking, as what began as an ordinary meal took an unexpected and heartbreaking turn.

Members of the public at the scene immediately rushed to assist and contacted emergency services. An ambulance was promptly dispatched, and a medical assistant officer from Hospital Melaka later arrived at the location. Despite resuscitation efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Melaka Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit confirmed that authorities were alerted to the incident at 3:35 PM through the district control centre, according to a report by Sinar Harian.

Initial investigations found no signs of foul play
According to the victim’s family, he had complained of stomach pain just days earlier, on Wednesday, and had sought treatment at a health clinic. He was not working on the day of the incident and was not known to have any serious pre-existing medical conditions.

His sudden passing has left family members and witnesses deeply shaken, serving as a stark reminder of how fragile life can be. Moments that begin in normalcy can change in an instant, often without warning.
The body has since been taken to the Forensic Department at Hospital Melaka for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities said investigations are ongoing, and further updates will be provided when available.
