The latest development to come out from the political coalition is extremely shocking as 36 Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia MPs have decided to nominate Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the next Prime Minister. This news is surprising as just yesterday it was announced that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was leading Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) once more.
The Star reported that Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Marzuki Yahaya said Bersatu MPs agreed to propose Muhyiddin as Malaysia’s 8th Prime Minister who’s also the Pagoh MP to Yang di-Pertuan Agong following a party meeting. In the 36 MPs, 10 MPs are from Azmin Ali’s independent bloc who are considered to be working with Bersatu. The 10 MPs were former PKR MPs who defected to Bersatu during the political coalition which ultimately caused the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government.
In the end, we can just hope that whatever decision is taken with the people’s best interest at heart.
