Uneven road surfaces can often be a great inconvenience to a variety of drivers. From startling those behind the wheel to potentially damaging one’s vehicle, a lack of restoration can cause more unwanted harm in various ways.
Nevertheless, one Malaysian named Hafiz has taken strides to somewhat assist road users in navigating this disruption. In a TikTok clip uploaded to his page @ceoofmarking, Hafiz shared how he painted over a series of potholes in Kelana Jaya so that drivers may notice them when they are using the road.
Simple yet effective, Hafiz used white paint to draw large circles over every pothole present on that part of the road, alongside arrows pointing towards the dips. He also spelt out the word “AWAS” in capital letters, so that drivers may view the holes ahead of them to avoid it. Taking some creative liberties, the final outcome of Hafiz’s effort is nothing short of a visual success.
In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, 28-year-old Hafiz stated that his intent when painting the warning was merely to act as a caution to alert other drivers. Aside from that, Hafiz also hopes that the virality of his effort through the video will encourage related authoritative figures to act on fixing these defects, as they posses the funds, workers, and assets to do so.
“We did these markings to alert other users of the road before an unfortunate incident happens, especially for motorcyclists. We are not part of any organisation, everything we used to do this was with our own money,” he said to WORLD OF BUZZ.

Road defects such as these are a breeding ground for accidents to occur. May the relevant authorities who come across such a matter act swiftly to restore roads in such a condition.
