The suspects knew the victim through social media
“Initial investigations found that both suspects knew the victim through TikTok. One of them admitted to committing an obscene act against the child on August 24 (Sunday),” he said.
Both suspects are being remanded to assist in the investigation under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
Supervise your children!
Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din advised the public to always ensure that children are under the supervision of a trusted guardian and to monitor their activities, especially when they are using social media.
“Report immediately to the police if you see a child alone or being harassed. Do not share footage of the incident on social media to protect the identity of the victim; instead, pass the information directly to the authorities,” he added.
