Tattoos are considered as a taboo especially in Asian countries and occasionally, people would get discriminated from job opportunities due to their tattoos. Just recently, China Press has reported that a 17-year-old teenager from China has sued his tattoo artist just because he regrets getting one.
The 17-year-old teenager named Chen has decided to get a tattoo from a tattoo artist named Lee. Chen mentioned that he really liked the sleeve tattoo on a particular celebrity and decided to get a similar one.
Lee agreed to tattoo Chen at $800RMB (RM500). Once Lee was paid, he began his work but the only mistake Lee made was not to check how old Chen is.
After the sleeve tattoo was done, Chen started worrying if it was a mistake and if he would lose out on job opportunities. So he decided to remove the tattoo and was shocked to see that the cost of removal was much more than getting the tattoo.
He then decided to bring this matter to court and sue his tattoo artist. “It’s my mistake for not verifying his age but asking me to compensate him $20,000RMB (RM12,648) is too much! I only charged him $800RMB (RM500) for his tattoo”, said Lee.
At the end, the judge ruled that both of them were at fault and Lee, the tattoo artist, was ordered to return the tattoo fee he charged and a further $5,000RMB (RM3,200) for Chen’s tattoo removal fee.
Please think twice before getting anything tattooed on your body. Do you think it was right to have Lee bear the cost for Chen’s regrets? Let us know in the comments below!
