What do we do when we are bored? Scroll through social media, of course! As part of the millennial generation, whenever we post anything up, we will anxiously wait for the likes to start pouring in. In fact, we are constantly on the lookout for places or things that are ‘Instagram-worthy’ to make our feed look even more interesting (and worthy of a follow). We already know Malaysia has many cool Instagrammable places, but did you know that Singapore has equally-stunning locations too?
Looks like it’s time to pay a little visit to our neighbours down south!
1. Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum
Singapore’s Chinatown is chock-full of photo opportunities, but one of the most picturesque places to snap a photo has got to be the Chinese Buddhist temple influenced by the Tang dynasty architecture. It’s just so majestic!
2. ArtScience Museum

Combining both art and science in one amazing iconic building, the exhibitions housed inside this building are awe-inspiring and make for great photos too. While they have interactive art installations there, they also have a constantly-updated list of international exhibitions on display. I could spend a whole day here!
3. Oasia Hotel

No, you’ve read that right, it’s Oasia Hotel, not Oasis! A stark contrast from the sleek metal buildings surrounding it, this unique “living tower” is covered with at least 21 species of climbing flowers. These blooms will ultimately cover the building with gorgeous flora and fauna. Don’t worry, the interior is just as awesome as the exterior!
4. Haji Lane

Stepping into Haji Lane, you will be amazed by the amount of vibrant wall art on the buildings and colourful graphic illustrations. Needless to say, this will be a perfect #hipster spot to make your feed pop with colour.
5. Johor Straits Lighthouse

This fully-functioning lighthouse is located right at Raffles Marina, which means when you are posing for your #OOTD shots, you can also snap some sleek and expensive boats in the background.
Tip: Make sure to include the view of Malaysia in the background too! 😛
6. Helix Bridge

It’s no secret that this famous bridge connecting the Marina Centre and the Bayfront area is an architectural triumph and looks especially awesome when it is lit up at night.
Tip: The intricate structure looks just as good during the day.
7. Henderson Waves Bridge
This fantastically-curvy bridge is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore and is part of a gorgeous nature trail that connects several parks together. The undulating curves are definitely one of its most interesting features, which are lit up at night with glittering LED lights.
8. CHIJMES

This Gothic-style chapel and complex has been gazetted as national monuments of Singapore, so you know that it’s definitely a beautiful place for those model-like poses. In addition, this complex also houses a variety of bars and restaurants that allows you to escape from the hustle and bustle of the busy city.
9. Koon Seng Road
This quiet little road is lined with a surprising discovery, which is the array of carefully-restored rainbow-coloured Peranakan houses complete with all the traditional trimmings. It may be a little off the beaten path, but the resulting shots will be worth it.
10. Jurong Eco Garden

Sick of the never-ending concrete jungle and hectic lifestyle that comes with it? Then take a brief respite from it by heading to one of Singapore’s green lungs, which has four different zones for you to explore. This also means that there’s plenty of opportunities for you to pose for all the nature-filled photos you want!
11. Old Hill Street Police Station

Rainbow-coloured trends have taken over social media by storm, from food to hair and now even buildings. Strike your best pose in front of the 927 shutters of vivid colours and watch as the likes start piling up!
12. Open Dome @ Sheares Link
While it is practically just an empty structure, you’ll be surprised to know that with the right angles, the photo will really shine and look artistic. One of the best things is that there aren’t usually many people there, so you can preen and pose all you want. Minus awkward stares too if you’re shy!
13. Colourful Spiral Staircases @ Bugis
Here’s another colourful place that is practically a hidden gem in Singapore! Not much is known about these cool staircases, but all you need to know is that it will make a great backdrop for a fabulous photo.
14. Supertree Grove
These structures that look like they just came out from the Avatar movie are highly recognisable but are too beautiful not to include in this list. With ever-changing lights that come on at night, it is definitely a feast for the eyes and for your Instagram feed!
15. Tan Teng Niah Residence

One of the last surviving Chinese villas in Little India, a rich businessman built this building for his wife and it was restored in the ’80s. However, you’ll be surprised to know that it wasn’t always painted with such an explosion colour. Back then, it was just painted in an ordinary white shade! Guess they wanted something more vibrant!
Now, who says Singapore doesn’t have Insta-worthy backdrops that deserve double taps?
