Diligent is the term that is most suitable to describe a secondary school student, Y Joshua, who fills his spare time by collecting garbage at the bus stop in front of his school.
The 14-year-old student from Lukut, Port Dickson, now cleans up litter every day as part of his daily routine.
According to a report by Harian Metro, Joshua shared that he gets bored if he doesn’t do anything while waiting for the bus to arrive at the bus stop and that’s how he came to start cleaning up litter.
“Every day, I collect the rubbish scattered in the drains and around the bus stop. It’s satisfactory for me because I can do something beneficial and at the same time, the surrounding area will be cleaned.”
“I like to see this area clean. Although it is a public space, it is where I wait for the bus every day to go home in Taman Sejahtera, Lukut. Nearby traders also give me water or food but that is not my purpose, I collect litter sincerely,” he said.
Despite this becoming a part of his routine, Joshua does hope that those waiting for the bus at the bus stop will stop littering and dispose of their rubbish in the bins provided.
What an amazing way to spend time while waiting at a location. Kudos, Joshua!
