Twelve Malaysian tourists were injured after their van plunged into a ravine while travelling on a hilly road in India.
The accident happened on Sunday (14 September) near Velliparai in Kodaikanal, when the van carrying the group back from Palani Temple veered off the road and crashed, only stopping after hitting a tree.

The van plunged nearly 100 feet after skidding off the road
The group of Malaysians had landed in Tamil Nadu a few days earlier to visit several tourist spots and spiritual sites, as reported by DT Next.
They were travelling in a tourist van along a hilly stretch when the driver reportedly lost control.
The van skidded off the road, smashed through iron barricades, and plunged nearly 100 feet into a gorge.

Locals in the area rescued those trapped inside
Locals quickly rushed to the scene and climbed down into the gorge to help rescue those trapped inside the wrecked vehicle, leaving all twelve Malaysians with serious injuries from the accident.
They were later taken to the Government Hospital in Kodaikanal for further treatment.
