Ahh, primary school…those were the good old days!
Remember being young, carefree children, when all we had to worry about was studying for UPSR and begging your parents to buy Tora or Jo Jo after school?
Primary school was also a time when many of us were at our most curious and inquisitive. To get to the point, we did a lot of weird things, lah. Here are just some of the things we used to do in primary school that made absolutely no sense!
1. Drinking flower nectar
Remember these flowers that were basically in every school throughout the country?
It felt like we were getting a free snack every time we reached for one of these! And they were so sweet every single time, too!
2. Torturing poor insects
As kids, many of us were pretty evil to harmless little insects for some reason. We didn’t understand the meaning of life ma!
It seems like almost every Malaysian has at least one story about tormenting insects when they are bored or free in class. Some of us used to trap ants by drawing circles around them, while others were more brutal with their torture methods…
“My friends and I used to catch grasshoppers and take their hind legs off so they can’t jump anymore and then gather them all in one place.”
3. Drawing this
What is it with this symbol?! It seems like everyone used to doodle this back in primary school!
And for some reason, teachers would get mad at us for drawing this, but to this day, we still don’t know why! We need answers! Secret student cult symbol or something???
4. Pushing the palm of your hand to see how many kids you’ll get when you grow up
We don’t know why this was so popular, but back in school, many of us used to make really tight fists with our hands and apply pressure on our palms.

The reason behind this was because small lumps will form at your wrists when you do this, and the number of lumps is kononnya the number of children you will have when you grow up!
Who even came up with this, lah?
5. Making paper claws
Again, we have no idea what the fascination was with these things! Why did everyone in primary school love pretending to have long nails/claws?
Whatever it was, it made us feel extra evil when we wore these paper claws/nails. It certainly provided us with a lot of entertainment, especially when we did this with them:
6. The paper fortune teller thing
Remember when everybody in school used to make these and forced their friends to play with them?
“What colour/number do you want?” somehow magically determined our future husband/wife, careers, and number of children, and we took it very seriously, too!
7. Collecting eraser dust
Remember when many of us thought this was like a gold mine?
There’s something satisfying about playing with eraser dust. We did many things with them back in primary school and one of the most popular ways many of us played with them was to collect a huge amount of dust so we could press them together and make a brand new eraser!
Dang, we even knew how to save money back then, also!
8. “I don’t wanna friend you!”
We’ve all had those moments (even as adults) when we get annoyed with our friends. However, we took things one step further as kids since many of us used to frequently end friendships with people just because they did something that wasn’t even that big of a deal!
And after “not friending” them, everything would go back to normal the following day because you decide you’re friends with them again.
Sigh, we were such drama queens back then!
9. Putting UHU glue on your hand and peeling it

Seriously though, you know that satisfaction while peeling it off is indescribable!
10. Calculating the compatibility between you and your crush
Like who even came up with this?? Who knew the compatibility between two individuals was determined by the letters in your name! And we were naive enough to believe it too!
