Getting a helping hand by hiring a maid to do house chores for you is a tedious process. It’s not just about dealing with agents but also taking into account the concerns about your maid running away during employment, or dealing with a dishonest one.
Just yesterday (November 16), on her Instagram story, local model and influencer Gatita Yan shared her experience of dealing with the process of hiring maids, which hasn’t been easy for her. In fact, in just 6 months, she had spent RM50,000 just for a helping hand.
During the 1st incident, Gatita wasted RM20,000 after finding out she was scammed by the agent who was supposed to help her hire a maid.
“Not only the agent stopped responding to me but he also did not get me a maid, even after 2 months.”
“Efficient agent, but not the maid”
A few months later, she found herself another agent, who was suggested by a close friend of hers. This time, Gatita could breathe in relief after finding out the agent was efficient and responsive, and she eventually succeeded in getting a maid into the house.
The good times, however, did not last long.
“3 months later, the maid ran away.”
She did not explain as to why the maid decided not to show up to work.
Gatita admitted that she had zero experience in dealing with agencies to hire a maid. She trusted her friend’s suggestion because it sounded good before she realised that it was too good to be true.
“They can replace with you with a new maid immediately if she runs away. And 3 months later, she really ran away.”
To those of you who have a maid, or used to have 1, what did you have to deal with before you got comfortable with the helper?
