Landslides can be severe, lead to loss of life, damage to infrastructure, and depletion of natural resources. Another unfortunate landslide took place early this morning, this time at Cameron Highlands.
According to a tweet from user @mynewshub, an update stated that a landslide occurred in Blue Valley, Cameron Highlands, Pahang, resulting in 5 victims believed to have been buried.
The incident was reported to Pahang JBPM at 2:51 am on January 26th, and the Fire Brigade from BBP Cameron Highlands quickly responded to the scene.
According to Senior Operations Commander PgKB I Ismail bin Abdul Ghani, the Fire Brigade conducted a rescue operation upon reaching the site. They found one victim, and it is believed that four others are still trapped under the rubble.
The search and rescue operation for victims is ongoing, and both the STORM Team’s Special Unit and the K9 Detection Unit have been deployed to the incident site.
